Macqueripe Bay
Macqueripe Bay |
Located at the top of the Chaguaramas Tucker Valley Road lies one of the most picturesque beaches in Trinidad - Macqueripe Bay named by the Kalina Tribe (Also known as the Caribs) who inhabited the area at the time of Columbus' arrival.
There is a walkway that descends from the top of the Valley Road to the beach which eventually greets you with a spectacular view of the bay, you can see as far as Venezuela on a clear day in the distance. The walkway passes through a well manicured garden that compliments the scenic trek.

Macqueripe is a small bay spanning approximately 120 metres and 20 metres of beach front, however the waters are usually calm crystal clear. A word of caution though, after wading 5 metres in, there is a dredge that gives way deep waters; this feature makes Macqueripe a popular location for scuba and free divers and generally those who wish to enjoy a great swim in the tranquil waters.
