The Bamboo Cathedral

Located in the Tucker Valley in Chaguaramas lies a scenic 300 metre trail lined on either adorned by bamboo trees arched towards each other. The Tucker Valley Trail has sub trails which leads to amazing points of interest, for example the Radio Tower Road that gives way to an old tracking station overlooking the Macqueripe Bay. The trail and its esoteric artifacts such as the station that houses an antenna used by the United States during the Cold War is said to be unaltered for over 150 years.

Tucker Valley was named after William Sanger Tucker who purchased the estate which was previously a sugar and coffee plantation in the 1850's. He subsequently sold the property in 1887 after the death of his daughter Amelia Tripp, who was buried in the churchyard cemetery of St Chad's Anglican Church located along the valley.

Tracking Station

Today the trail is used by joggers, cyclists, hikers, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts as Red Howler Monkeys (Alouatta Alouattinae) and White-fronted Capuchin Monkeys (Cebus Albifrons) can be spotted in the late evening and early morning.

The scene is that of an ancient enchanted trail with rustic relics of a defining era of modern society.
